Welcome to Minnesota Women Lawyers!
Founded in 1972, MWL is an association of more than 1,200 attorneys, judges, law students, legal employers and legal professionals dedicated to advancing the success of women attorneys and striving for a just society. Since its inception, MWL has played an active role in Minnesota's legal community, providing unique opportunities for its members to learn, develop as leaders, network with other attorneys, have an impact on their communities and foster greater satisfaction within the profession.
Today, MWL is a strong and vibrant association with a proud tradition of women lawyers working together to achieve common goals, not only for themselves but also for those who will follow. MWL’s dedicated and diverse membership has been the cornerstone of its success.
With the adoption of its 2009-2012 Strategic Plan, MWL continues to address the changing needs of women in the legal profession. Programs, initiatives, and activities are all guided by its mission and organizational values:
- COMMUNITY: A strong community of women lawyers throughout Minnesota is essential to achieve equality in the legal profession and the administration of justice.
- EQUALITY: We advocate for the full equality of women lawyers and promote initiatives that eliminate discrimination.
- LEADERSHIP: We affirm the importance of developing and supporting women lawyers in leadership roles.
- CELEBRATION: We celebrate the individual and collective achievements of women lawyers.
- DIVERSITY: We all benefit from promoting and valuing diversity in its many forms.
- LEARNING: Women lawyers face common opportunities and challenges and can learn from one another.
- ENGAGEMENT: The practice of law is enriched when women lawyers fully participate in the lives of their families and communities.

MWL's New Website!!
In working towards the goals set out in its 2009-2012 Strategic Plan, the MWL Technology and Communications Committees have been working with staff over the past year to research, develop and adopt new technologies that will better support our membership.
How does this translate into improved services for our members?
Starting right here, MWL's website has a new look and new features. It will soon have many more interactive elements, making it easier to connect with other MWL members, access publications and a current member directory online, recap recent events, get updates on initiatives, and much more!
MWL will continue to develop its website capabilities throughout the summer. As always, member suggestions are are welcomed.
