Larkin Hoffman is committed to the growth and on-going support of its women attorneys. Both the women shareholders and associates are integral and influential partners in the firm’s success. The firm recognizes the difficulties all attorneys face in balancing life and law and has developed a number of programs to assist its attorneys in achieving that balance. These efforts make Larkin Hoffman a leader in the development and support of its women attorneys, both personally and professionally. In 1996, Kathleen M. Picotte Newman was elected president of the firm, one of the first women in Minnesota to serve as president of a major law firm. Newman remained the firm’s president for four years, and today is the chair of Larkin Hoffman’s Family Law Department. She is well-respected in the Twin Cities family law community, nominated yearly as a Super Lawyer and to The Best Lawyers in America. Dayle Nolan is the Chair of Larkin Hoffman’s Labor and Employment Law Department, a position she has held for 15 years. Dayle also serves as Larkin Hoffman’s firm employment counsel, on the legal personnel committee and heads the firm’s mentoring program. Dayle’s experience in employment and labor law has been recognized through her many years of being named a Super Lawyer. Linda Fisher joined the firm in 1977 and is a shareholder in the Land Use and Real Estate Department. She is an advocate for her clients on issues such as zoning, development and the Wetland Conservation Act. Linda is a leader in the firm, having served several terms on its Board of Directors. Jane Bremer is the leader of the firm’s Telecommunications Law practice group. Jane is considered as a major “player” in this innovative area of law and is currently the Chair of the MSBA’s Communications Law Section. Prior to joining Larkin Hoffman, Jane served as the Director of Telecommunications for the City of Minneapolis and is listed in the Best Lawyers in America. Lynn Starkovich is Larkin Hoffman’s newest shareholder, joining the firm in 2001. She brings a tremendous amount of experience and leadership in the area of Health Care Law and serves as Minnesota’s representative on the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging’s Legal Committee. In addition to our women shareholders, Larkin Hoffman has a number of women associate attorneys. All are active members of bar and civic organizations and have been named to positions of leadership in community organizations. Some have been named Rising Stars in their profession and are published authors in their fields. In addition to the professional accomplishments of Larkin Hoffman’s women attorneys, they work hard each day to balance their lives and the law. They appear to be winning that battle. Among the personal accomplishments of these women in the last year are biking through Italy, traveling in Greece, running a marathon and biking in the MS150. Larkin Hoffman assists its attorneys in a variety of ways. This includes policies for paid maternity leave, paid parental leave for both men and women and part-time employment. By supporting membership in organizations such as Minnesota Women Lawyers, Larkin Hoffman aspires to support the activities that will create an enjoyable and supportive work environment for all of its attorneys.
