1. The Candidate shall be a licensed attorney with sufficient legal experience to fulfill the duties of the office. 2. The Candidate shall have sufficient resources and reputation within the legal community to be a viable candidate. 3. The Candidate shall have the following personal characteristics: a. Integrity and moral courage b. Patience and courtesy c. Common sense and sound, mature judgment d. Capacity for work e. Mental and physical health as they would affect the candidate’s ability to perform the duties of the position f. Good personal demeanor compatible with the dignity and deportment of the position g. Knowledge and understanding of human nature h. Cooperativeness and ability to work with others 4. The Candidate shall be objective and impartial. 5. The Candidate shall have experience with community and charitable activities. 6. The Candidate shall have past experience reflecting the values and mission of MWL. 7. The Candidate shall have sufficient non-legal education, training and work experience. 8. The Candidate shall adhere to the Code of Professional Responsibility. 9.

nonpolitical, nonpartisan and impartial The MWL Elections Committee will ask all candidates the following core set of uniform questions and may ask additional questions. 1. Describe your work experience and the focus of your practice. 2. What do you consider to be the relevant qualifications for the position you are seeking? 3. Why do you want the job? 4. Describe the atmosphere you want to create in the courtroom. 5. Highlight your past experiences reflecting MWL’s mission to secure the full and equal participation of women in the legal profession and in a just society. 6. Are there any types of cases in which, as a judge, you could not follow the law? 7. Have you sought, do you intend to seek, or have you received the endorsement of any groups, including, but not limited to, political parties? If endorsed by a political party, will you disavow that endorsement? 8. Have you ever been formally or informally disciplined by the Lawyers Board of Professional responsibility? Are there any pending complaints? 9. Are there any existing or potential obstacles to your election? 10 Describe your reputation in the legal community. How does your reputation affect your ability to get elected? 11. Do you have the resources to get elected? 12. Will your campaign work with or cooperate with any political parties or use any political party resources or connections, formally or informally, in running for judge?
