MWL Public Policy Advocacy Committee
Issue: Girl Empowerment

Women’s equality begins with the empowerment of girls.  The MWL PPA Committee strives to break down barriers that girls face, and to expand girls’ notions of what it means to be successful,.  The Committee sponsors events and provides information to the MWL membership with the hope that our members will be inspired to actively join this cause.

Past Event
Two Hours to Empower!
On Thursday, February 5th, 2009, the MWL Public Policy Advocacy (PPA) Committee hosted a unique event, focusing on empowering and enriching the lives of girls.  PPA was pleased to introduce three local organizations dedicated to the cause of girl empowerment.  These organizations aim to achieve their goals in a variety of creative ways such as education on media literacy, and direct mentoring of girls.  Through these efforts, girls are challenged to become leaders in the community through strategic self-expression as well as political participation.
