MWL Job Description:
Program and Project Coordinator


 Position Objective:

To provide efficient and highly effective administrative, program and project support to Minnesota Women Lawyers (MWL), a 1,200 member, statewide women’s bar association.  The Program and Projects Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director and performs all work under the Executive Director’s direction and supervision.


37.5 hours per week: Monday - Friday; occasional evenings (1-2/month); rare weekends (1-2/yr.)



$18 - $20 per hour DOE, plus benefits

MWL Main Office: 600 Nicollet Mall, Suite 390, Minneapolis, Minnesota

        Program & Projects:

  1. Work with MWL Staff, as well as MWL and MWL Foundation Leadership Groups (Leadership) and volunteers to create action plans in support of the mission and strategic plan.
  2.  Provide direct administrative support to Leadership as assigned, in support of organizational programs, projects and initiatives.
  3. Provide Leadership with support and information necessary to conduct effective and efficient meetings.  Attend Leadership meetings as staff representative.  Provide follow-up support as necessary.
  4. Provide ongoing program and project support, direction, management and leadership.
  5. Ensure efficient event and program administration by maintaining registration lists, processing CLE applications, creating nametags, ordering lunch and other refreshments, communicating with event coordinators and/or presenters, sending attendee confirmations, coordinating event logistics, and other related tasks.
  6. In collaboration with the MWL Membership and Communications Coordinator, ensure all programs and initiatives are well publicized to the target audience.  Streamline efforts as possible.
  7. Work with Staff and Leadership to develop and implement plans for new or expanded programs or projects;  Seek approval as necessary.
  8. Provide opportunities for an enhanced membership experience by recruiting, retaining and managing member volunteers.
  9. Provide ongoing volunteer support and training as necessary.


  1.  Provide direct administrative support to the Executive Director.
  2. Provide general administrative support to the organization.
  3. Build and maintain organizational strong relationships by providing exceptional customer service to MWL members and the greater legal community.
  4. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.  


Required Experience

  •  Associate’s degree plus one to three years of related experience or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with no previous experience.


Preferred Experience

  • Non-profit/association administration and support.
  • Event and/or project coordination and management.
  • Experience working with volunteers.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, content management systems and social media.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to manage projects, including development, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written .
  • Detail oriented; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities.
  • Initiative, integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team (staff and volunteers).
