The 2018 MWL Conference for Women in the Law:

The Big Tent: Diversity as Our Strength

 

Requests for Seminar Proposals Are Now Being Accepted



Minnesota Women Lawyers is pleased to announce The 2018 MWL Conference for Women in the Law, to be held on Friday, April 27th, 2018 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Minneapolis.

The goals of The MWL Conference are to collaborate across MWL’s statewide legal community, to provide high-value programming of interest to our diverse membership, and to create meaningful networking opportunities.  All members of Minnesota’s legal community are welcome to attend.

 

hover text The MWL Conference will be highlighted by keynote presenter Michele Coleman Mayes, Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary for the New York Public Library.  Previously, Ms. Mayes served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel for Allstate Insurance Company and for Pitney Bowes Inc.  She also served as Chair of the Commission on Women in the Profession of the American Bar Association from 2014-2017. 

The MWL Conference will also feature a full day of programming, geared towards the diverse practice areas and experience levels represented by MWL's membership. 

 

2018 Conference registration will open in early 2018. 





SEEKING REQUESTS FOR SEMINAR PROPOSALS:

 

Minnesota Women Lawyers is seeking dynamic presentations and speakers for The 2018 MWL Conference for Women in the Law breakout seminars, to be scheduled throughout the conference day.  Seminars are typically one hour in length.  MWL invites a variety of seminar formats, include single presenter, multiple presenter, moderated panel presentation, interactive workshop, etc.  Other creative ideas are encouraged. 

 

CONFERENCE TOPICS: Proposals are welcome on any topic deemed of potential interest to The 2018 MWL Conference audience.  Topics that qualify for CLE credit and that incorporate the following general topics/focus areas are of particular interest to MWL: 

 

·Development of core competencies, professional expertise, and entrepreneurial skills;

·Diversity and inclusion topics and/or elimination of bias in the legal profession;

·Attaining leadership positions across the diversity of the legal profession;

·Attaining leadership positions outside of the legal profession (e.g. community organizations, corporate, public service, etc.);

·Best practices for advancing the success of women attorneys;

·New or unique presentations related to professional ethics.

Please note: MWL is unable to pay honorarium fees or reimburse for travel or other related expenses.  

 

TO SUBMIT: Please complete and submit the ONLINE FORM BELOW or print, complete and email the PDF FORM to MWL Executive Director Debra Pexa (dpexa@mwlawyers.org) by November 20, 2017.  Feel free to attach or submit any additional information as appropriate.


 

DEADLINE FOR PROPOSAL SUBMISSIONS: Monday, November 20th, 2017. 

 

PLEASE NOTE: The 2018 MWL Conference Planning Committee will review all proposals and in its sole discretion, select the presentations for inclusion in the 2018 MWL Conference for Women in the Law program.  Submitting a presentation proposal does not guarantee a place on the agenda.  The primary contact listed on the proposal will be notified of whether or not their proposal has been selected by December 15th, 2018.
